Public Service Recognition Week May 4-10, 2025
THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS!
Our Public Employees Local 71 LIUNA Members work all year long in all corners of Alaska. We keep your roads, airports, facilities, schools, and machinery open and running for safety and commerce. We do more with less as public sector budget cuts leave us compensating for vacant positions. We are hard workers who care about the communities in which we work and live. From Barrow to Bellingham, Nome to Nuiqsut, parks and peninsulas. We work in the panhandle and on the Aleutian chain. We are the first First Responders when tragedy strikes no matter the weather. We do it all because we are committed to giving our best every day and volunteering for local projects and charity drives.
We are thanking our valuable members for all that they do and the privilege to represent them. Take a moment today to think about the work that these public servants do. Slow down in work zones, shake a custodian’s hand. Know that the pothole that was there last week is smooth riding now because our members are doing everything that they can to improve the world around us every chance that they get.
Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW) 2025 will be observed from May 4-10, 2025, honoring federal, state, county, local, and tribal government employees. This week-long event, established in 1985, is organized by the Public Employees Roundtable and its member organizations. The week serves as a platform to recognize the contributions of public servants and educate the public about their essential work.
