Local 71 Cares & Kids Don’t Float

Fairbanks, AK – Today our union continued our good work supporting water safety by re-stocking the lifejacket loaner boards at the Pioneer Park and Graehl Landing boat launches.

Pictured here are Brian Lashinski, our Public Employees LIUNA Local 71 Vice President, and State Equipment Fleet Foreman with the State of Alaska DOT at Peger Road; and Joleen Nash, Northern Region Dispatcher re-stocking loaner life jackets at both launches:

Local 71 has a long history of supporting this program, and the recent drowning on the Chena River was an unfortunate reminder to practice boating safety by always wearing a life jacket. We are getting more flotation devices out to additional communities in time for the holiday weekend and remind everyone that they can find additional resources here at the Office of Boating Safety.
