Local 71 Retiree Dave Lambert Honored At Union Hockey Night

Long-time Local 71 member, Dave Lambert was honored at the 2025 Ice Dogs Union Hockey Night in Fairbanks.

The annual event is sponsored by the Fairbanks Central Labor Council, presided over by our LIUNA brother, Jacob Howdeshell, Business Manager for the Alaska Laborers Local 942.

Dave and his wife Ann support our Dennis J. Moen Scholarship Fund and have helped Local 71 dispurse more than $100K in scholarships just to Public Employees Local 71 members and families through their Emerald Isle Pulltabs and Alaska Lotto businesses.

At the second intermission, Dave and Ann were surprised on the ice by Brother Howdeshell and Ice Dogs General Manger Rob Proffitt, who read the following biography and presented Ice Dogs Jersey that will read LAMBERT across the back:

“Dave Lambert has been an integral part of Fairbanks Hockey for decades, supporting not just Ice Dogs, but every level of hockey down to Pee Wees.

He supports SO many charities around Alaska. His favorites are the ones that help people directly, including the Lions’ vision program for glasses.

It started with a rat race and led to bingo Pulltabs and the creation of Lotto Alaska.

He has been an innovator and an economic stimulator. He helped develop the structure for Charitable Gaming in Alaska to support all the programs that we are talking about and is watching out to make sure that those don’t go away with the new threat of Casinos.

His efforts have helped keep local charities afloat when they would have closed their doors without support. His contributions to scholarships have helped all levels of education, including trade schools.

TONIGHT, we are honoring Dave because he is a Union Man.

Dave is still an Alaska Laborer and proud Member of the Public Employees Local 71 LIUNA. He joined in 1977. He worked in the field on the Dalton Highway, in the office as a Business Representative, and as the Maintenance lead at Creamer’s Field before retiring – and continuing to pay his union dues!

There’s not a person in this rink who hasn’t been touched in some way by the efforts of this man, and we’d like you to stand now as we thank Dave & Ann Lambert!”
