Governor Dunleavy Has Vetoed Public Pensions – Urgent Update From Our Business Manager

UPDATE: At 2:40 PM on 5-19-2026, the Alaska Legislature met in Joint Session of the House & Senate, and failed to override the Governor’s Veto with a vote of only 33 Yeas and 27 Nays, falling short of the 40 votes required to make up 2/3 of 60 votes (40 House & 20 Senate) required to override a Governor’s Veto. You can watch the video and floor comments HERE. Because the veto stands, there will be no change to the public employee retirement system (PERS) at this time.
