Support for the Lashinski Family

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the recent tragedy of one of our own and remember Maxwell Lashinski, the youngest son of Brian and Kayla Lashinski, whose life was lost on Saturday.

Brian Lashinski is a State Equipment Fleet Mechanic Foreman and Shop Steward with AK DOT&PF at Peger Rd. in Fairbanks; and our Local 71 Vice President. He gives countless time and energy to our members and routinely attends meetings on his regular day off to support his fellow workers. He is also a dedicated father and family man who delivered his youngest son, Maxwell, at home, and actively supports his wife Kayla in her midwifery and lactation specialist education.

Let our Public Employees LIUNA Local 71 union family come together to let the Lashinskis know that they are not alone in this devastating time, that we are here in support.

Brian’s sister-in-law has set up a Give In Kind page here to support Brian, Kayla, and Michael where we can sign up to help with meals or send encouragement:

STORY

On Saturday, June 1, while out for a family bike ride, sweet little Maxwell, age 6, was struck by a vehicle. The loss is beyond tragic, and incomprehensible, and we are trying to offer as much love and support to his parents and brother as possible. Please consider signing up for a meal or two and sharing this with family and friends who may be interested in supporting this sweet family during this tragic time. Cards, flowers, and condolences may be left at the door as the family is not taking unscheduled visitation at this time. Please wish Brian, Kayla, and Michael your most sincere prayers.

Out of respect for the family, we waited to promote this news publicly. A story aired on KTVF last night, and we received permission to let our members know this morning.
