Guys Read / Gals Read – Call For Volunteers!

Being a Laborer means being part of our community through Laborers Rising, and the Guys Read / Gals Read program is looking for volunteers. If you are off shift and able to read to fourth-graders right here in the Fairbanks community, we want you!

When you volunteer, wear your union gear, remind people where you work and which union you belong to, record your event for a chance to win prizes, and send photos to Info@local71.com for more chances!

See this message below from the Fairbanks Central Labor Council:

CLC Brothers, Sisters & Siblings,

At Monday’s CLC meeting, we had the pleasure of hearing about Guys Rad Gals Read (GR2) from founder Greg Hill and the work they’re doing to encourage reading and connect with kiddos in our community.

Greg followed up afterward with a wonderful thank-you email, sharing how much he enjoyed meeting our labor leaders & was especially appreciative of the Council’s interest and financial support.

I wanted to pass along an opportunity for anyone who might be interested in getting involved beyond our Council’s support.

GR2 is looking for volunteer readers! What a great opportunity for our labor community to make a difference in the lives of local kids. I just signed up myself and thought some of you might want to join me!

We have so many incredible people in our labor community who already give so much of their time and energy to making Fairbanks a better place. Here’s another opportunity to do just that!

Thanks to everyone who joined us Monday and for your continued commitment to our community.

In Solidarity,
Crystal Tidwell
